West Finland European Office (WFEO) represents the interests of Ostrobothnia, South Ostrobothnia, Satakunta and Central Finland in Brussels. We follow closely EU policies, especially the regional, research and innovation, industrial, and transportation policies.
In addition, we provide information on the EU funding programmes, co-operation, and networking opportunities for both our regional stakeholders and potential partners in other European regions. We also match potential partners with our regional stakeholders and provide project proposal development support.
Based on the smart specialisation strategies in West Finland, we focus on energy, automation and robotics, food and agriculture, bioeconomy, cybersecurity, education, and health and care. We are co-leads in ERRIN (European Regions Research and Innovation Network) working groups: Bioeconomy, Energy and Climate, and ICT. We are also active in ERRIN working group Science & Education for society, which now includes the work of the informal ReSET (Regions working on Skills, Education and Training) network. Our regional stakeholders are members in ERIAFF (European Regions for Innovation in Agriculture, Food and Forestry), CPMR (Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions), ECSO (European Cyber Security Organisation), ECHAlliance and euRobotics.
